POINT’s mission is “to function as a vehicle for independent, ABC accredited, orthotic and prosthetic facilities to compete with the large, national and regional firms in the managed care healthcare environment.”
Based on the belief that ABC embodies the highest standards for orthotic and prosthetic care and since ABC accreditation implies ABC certified practitioners, POINT requires ABC accreditation as its minimum demonstration of quality proficiency. In addition, POINT stresses independently owned facilities based on the belief that independents practice in a patient centered focus vs. a profit maximization focus.
POINT offers:
- Access to ALL POINT Managed Care Contracts
- Preferred access to all HOMELINK Managed Care Contracts
- Special Product and Professional Liability Insurance rates
- Continuing Education opportunities through POINT U Internet-based courses
- Special discounts with Brightree Web-based billing, Creative print marketing, and Forbin Web design
- AbilityPRO, POINT's Web-based patient survey and communication tool
- Access to ALL OPGA benefits
Founding Principles POINT was founded on the belief that the Patient is the central focus of each member’s business. We want to make it possible for our members to have the best technological, emotional and educational support available to meet each patient’s needs. Since most independently owned facilities have the Patient as the focal point, POINT feels the preservation of these facilities is vital in improving the entire orthotic and prosthetic industry.
History POINT was incorporated in February of 1995 as a provider-owned network of credentialed, independently-owned orthotic and prosthetic facilities. In December of 2004, POINT was purchased by VGM (Van G. Miller and Associates) based in Waterloo, Iowa and in January of 2007, Dennis Clark, CPO was named President of POINT. Cassi Ubben joined the POINT staff in May of 2007 as the Director of Communications.
